Master of Science in Management
Program Information
The MS in Management is a one-year program that builds a foundation in core business disciplines strategy, finance, operations, organizational behavior. It's designed for people who want to understand how organizations work and move into or advance in management roles, regardless of their undergraduate background.
A master's degree in business administration (MBA) that covers a broader range of business topics. Most MBA programs take two years to complete and are designed for people who want a comprehensive business credential, either because they're changing careers into business, or because they already work in business and want a formal qualification and deeper knowledge.
Both programs are offered through Cal Lutheran's School of Management, so you get the same small classes, accessible faculty and supportive community either way.

You can complete the master’s in management in as little as one year. You’ll take 10 courses. See more about the curriculum here.
Yes, you can complete the master’s in management degree as a part-time or full-time student. We recommend that part-time students take no more than two courses per term if they are balancing a full-time job or other responsibilities.
You have the choice of three formats: online, on campus or hybrid. The on-campus classes are held at our Thousand Oaks location.
Work comes in a mix of formats: pre-class prep like videos or discussion boards, weekly assignments and group projects with classmates.
Each course runs about 10 hours per week between class time and assignments, so a typical two-course term works out to around 20 hours a week. Classes meet on weeknights whether you're online or on campus.
Most students take two courses per term while working full time.
No, students are not required to hold a business degree. We welcome students who have completed any undergraduate degree from an accredited institution, who graduated with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Careers & the Cal Lutheran Community
Cal Lutheran MBA students have access to our university-wide Career Services office, which includes career counseling, workshops, interview prep and a job and internship board with over 200 weekly listings from a network of 20,000-plus employer contacts. These resources are available to current students and stay open to alumni.
The School of Management also runs its own networking programs, including the Entrepreneur Speaker Series, the New Venture Fair, the PRiME Competition and Business School on Rails. Beyond formal programs, professors actively introduce students to executives for jobs, internships and advice, and the Steven Dorfman Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship supports students with business ideas they want to develop alongside their coursework.
